July 15th, 2009
Back in 2004, in the days leading up to my birthday that year, Jen asked what would I like for my birthday? I told her that I wanted to get married. And, to keep the story short, we did get married. On July 15th. That makes today our five-year anniversary.
Instead of going out to dinner, we decided to take a late lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. Here’s Jen with her blue crab cakes and asparagus spaghetti.
(I had a cheeseburger pizza, but I’ll be writing more about the foodz later this week.) After we finished with the meal, we took a walk to a nearby confectionist and picked up a peanut butter avalanche bar for later.
Once we were home, it was time for Jen to unwrap the gift I had gotten for her.
(Notice more of my trademark high-class wrapping paper.) And here’s Jen with her gift after it was unwrapped.
Yes. My 36-year old wife was happy to get this “Star Trek” lunchbox. And yes, she will be taking it with her to school. I picked up the lunchbox at a candy shop downtown, so it seemed only right to throw a couple candy bars in there, too.
Jen hasn’t been feeling very well this week, so she spent most of the rest of the afternoon resting. Later on, we split the avalanche bar (it was very good!) and watched an episode of (you guessed it) “Star Trek” on TV.
And that’s pretty much the whole day.

Happy Anniversary Shawno & Jen! I always thought that it was very cool that you two are a couple who podcast together. My wife doesn’t like podcasts at all.
