Below 240

June 15th, 2009

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything directly related to my struggles with weight loss. But, I have still been doing a lot of work in that area. I set a goal at the beginning of the year to be under 240 pounds by my birthday. Today, I weighed in at 238 pounds. My birthday isn’t until next month. I’ve lost about 15 pounds since the beginning of the year, and I’ve still got a long way to go.

I know that 240 might not seem like much for a midyear goal. But over the last few years, my weight has vacillated between 240 and 250 pounds regularly. Back in January, I believed that if I could get to less than 240, then I’d have to be on a right, real path to true weight loss. It feels good to know that I’ve made this goal a little ahead of schedule. But as I stated above, I’ve still got a lot of work left to do.

Jen and I had lunch today at a Chinese buffet restaurant. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. But I had a reasonable amount of food (including a salad!) as opposed to the plate-after-plate binge that I’d normally partake in at such a place. I’m not much of a believer in “universal signs” or other such mystical bullshit. But I found this fortune-cookie fortune to be at least somewhat serendipitous.

I don’t think I’ve made “many” changes, but I have made some. This is just a reminder that I’m still at the beginning of this journey.
