Jen and I were planning on having lunch downtown this afternoon. We were looking to go somewhere we either hadn’t been to before, or hadn’t been to in awhile. Despite some excellent suggestions, we decided to stop in at Mondeo Pronto. Neither one of us had eaten there before, so it seemed like a good choice.
Based on what I could tell from the menu, Mondeo Pronto offers a wide variety of entrees, and you can choose to have them served in a bowl or inside of a wrap. I opted for the sesame chicken bowl:
And Jen went for the meatloaf bowl:
The sesame chicken was pretty good. I found it a bit annoying that the chicken was served on a skewer. It was pretty much impossible to get the chicken on to the plate without getting my hands all messy. But it’s a small complaint. (I did try to just push the chicken off with my fork, but no go.) The dish came with a mixture of steamed rice, vegetables, and crispy wonton-style noodles along with a sesame-style sauce. It made for an interesting blend of flavors. Most places that serve sesame chicken tend to drown everything in sauce. But Mondeo Pronto’s approach is different, so the sauce isn’t overpowering everything. Overall, I was satisfied with this meal and I’m looking forward to trying some of the restaurant’s other offerings.
Jen enjoyed her meatloaf. I tried a few bites, and it is good. She commented that she thought it was a bit salty, but that didn’t really bother her. We had iced tea to drink and the tea was fine. The total tab for the meal was just under $20.00, which is pretty average for lunch downtown. I’m glad that we gave Mondeo Pronto a try. We’ll definitely be back.
