Power Chords These Days

May 30th, 2009

This audio post was inspired by this post I made to Twitter. Or, more specifically, it’s based on the small discussion that came about in response to my post. Am I misunderstanding the definition of a power chord when it comes to guitar playing? Or do these young whippersnappers not have the proper appreciation for a full-bodied chord?

It occurs to me that I know very little about power chords, probably because I play acoustic exclusively.

I thought power chords were just major and minor bar chords that rock stars played up and down the neck.

Now, thanks to Shawnogram, I know better. I found some tabs on Wikipedia and will begin investigating the power chord.
