I hear you about the Christmas gift thing. Sometimes it seems like the point of Christmas is forgotten. For me, that’s all about family. I’ll give a quick idea which probably won’t work for you or most other people, but hey, it’s a free idea so you get what you pay for.

If you have a creative type of family, maybe you can all agree as a group to create something for each other. Or if you’re not all into creating things, maybe you could make something for them and at least save yourself some money. I did that for my grandmother a couple years ago. I dug up some old video and audio of my grandfather from some old tapes and put together a DVD with the footage I recovered and an audio cd with him from when I was a little kid. Then I put together a DVD cover and a label with a picture of the two of them from when they had just been married a few years. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but he passed away about 15 years before, so it meant a lot to her. Sometimes things like that can work and be a bigger hit than a store bought present. At least it might spark an idea for you. Hope it helps.

I absolutely hate daylight savings time. It’s been going on for a few weeks now and it REALLY sucks and I haven’t gotten use to it. I have to rush outside before it’s dark to feed the critters or fumble around in the dark with a flash light.

I completely understand about not being able to enjoy the holidays. I have felt the same way for several years now. I really miss that feeling I got when Christmas came around when I was a kid.

I wish I could tell my family that we don’t need to buy gifts. Let’s all put the money into buying food and having a feast. That way one person doesn’t have to spend 8 hours cooking and it doesn’t cost one family $120. I could even go as far as to say let’s just buy gifts for the little kids. But then, what age do you cut it off at. It gets really dicey.
